Our client, a major international bank with a strong presence across Europe, is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead and strengthen its compliance framework in the Netherlands. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an individual with proven regulatory expertise and a strong background in AML and financial compliance.
About the Role
The Head of Compliance will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and maintaining the bank's compliance strategy and ensuring full alignment with both European and global regulatory requirements. You will act as a key advisor to executive leadership and play a central role in maintaining the bank's strong regulatory standing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of the bank's compliance framework.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies in the Netherlands and the EU.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on their impact.
- Oversee AML, KYC, and financial crime compliance programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the compliance team.
- Ensure effective compliance reporting, risk assessments, and internal controls.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Compliance, Regulatory Risk, Financial Crime, or related functions within banking or financial services.
- Very strong knowledge of key European regulatory frameworks, including: MiFID II, MAR, EMIR, DORA, MiCA
- Demonstrated expertise in AML and financial crime compliance.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working in a complex, fast‑moving international environment.
