A well established Tech Growth Equity firm in the Bay area is looking to add someone on at the Associate level to be apart of their Summer 2026 class. This indvidual would get the chance to join an organization with nearly $6 Billion in AUM that just recenlty raised a $2 Billion fund and, assuming good performance, has the ability to be a career track style opportunity. If you're someone with 2+ years of experience (at the start of the role) in investment banking covering M&A related transactions, have a strong interest/understanding of Tech, and are open to living in SF, please apply!

Responsibilities - Growth Equity Associate

  • Deal Sourcing & Pipeline: Proactively source opportunities through thematic research, founder networks, bankers, and conferences; maintain and qualify a robust pipeline.
  • Investment Analysis: Build detailed financial models (growth/retention cohorts, unit economics, DCF, LBO‑lite), evaluate return profiles, and develop scenario analyses.
  • Commercial Due Diligence: Lead market sizing, competitive landscape mapping, customer interviews/surveys, and analysis of go-to-market (GTM) effectiveness and scalability.
  • Product & Operations Assessment: Evaluate product differentiation, roadmap, pricing/packaging, sales efficiency, and operational readiness for scale.
  • IC Materials: Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear investment committee memos, management presentations, and board-ready materials.
  • Deal Execution: Coordinate workstreams across legal, tax, accounting, and technical advisors; manage data rooms, Q&A, redlines, and closing checklists.
  • Portfolio Value Creation: Track KPIs, support budgeting/forecasting, assist with strategic initiatives (pricing, channel strategy, hiring, M&A), and prepare board materials.
  • Market & Thematic Research: Build theses in core focus areas; develop market maps and maintain viewpoints on emerging trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Relationship Building: Develop trust-based relationships with founders, management teams, co-investors, and advisors to support sourcing and post-close execution.
  • Firm Building: Contribute to best practices, knowledge management, and internal tools/dashboards that improve sourcing and underwriting quality.

Requirements - Growth Equity Associate

  • Experience: 2-3+ years in investment banking (M&A/coverage)
  • Modeling & Analytics: Advanced Excel proficiency; ability to build and audit detailed operating models, cohort/retention analyses, and unit economics.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong grasp of market structure, competitive positioning, GTM motions, and growth drivers; comfortable interrogating data to form an investment view.
  • Diligence Excellence: Experience running diligence workstreams, engaging third-party advisors, and triangulating qualitative and quantitative inputs.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to craft crisp investment memos and persuasive IC presentations.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple deals/workstreams in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and ownership mindset.
  • Team & Ethics: Low-ego team player with high integrity, sound judgment, and maturity in founder/management interactions.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA not required but a plus.
