Flood Underwriter (Retail) - East Coast
My client is seeking a Flood Underwriter to support the continued growth of a retail flood portfolio, with a primary focus on East Coast markets. This role is intended as an individual contributor position, not a people‑management role.
This is a strong opportunity for a flood underwriter who values underwriting fundamentals, retail broker relationships, and stable, measured growth.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite retail flood business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority
- Evaluate submissions including property characteristics, flood zones, mapping, elevation data, and coverage structure
- Support new business and renewals while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability
- Partner with retail agents to manage pipelines, respond to submissions, and support territory growth
- Contribute to portfolio management through monitoring of mix, exposure, and regional trends
- Assist as needed with underwriting process improvement as the flood book continues to evolve
This role is not a management position and does not require wholesale underwriting experience.
Ideal Profile
- Flood underwriting experience within a retail environment
- Strong understanding of flood mapping, coverage forms, and underwriting fundamentals
- Existing retail agent relationships are highly valued
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor
- Experience supporting regional or territory growth along the East Coast
- Open to joining a team that is building thoughtfully, not rapidly expanding for scale alone
Location
- East Coast preferred
- Areas of interest include Florida (Tampa a plus), the Carolinas, New Jersey, and New England
- Flexible location for candidates aligned with key growth territories (along the East Coast)
Timing
