We are currently representing an exciting Web3 Prop Trading firm that combines quantitative and fundamental approach, in mid-frequency liquid trading. They are looking to add an Event-Driven Researcher to their small but dynamic team.
The role involves analysing macro and crypto‑native catalysts that drive short‑term volatility and turning real‑time information into actionable insights for traders. You'll anticipate market reactions, maintain a forward‑looking event calendar, and help the firm stay ahead of key developments. The ideal candidate thrives in fast‑moving environments, understands market structure and liquidity, and can distil complex high impact events into clear, timely takeaways.
Responsibilities
- Track and interpret macro releases, governance votes, protocol upgrades, token unlocks, and regulatory developments.
- Monitor cross‑asset news flow to identify catalysts influencing crypto and digital asset markets.
- Partner with traders to turn event insights into strategies and risk frameworks.
- Maintain an actionable event calendar with key timelines.
- Conduct post‑event reviews to refine forecasting accuracy.
- Support tooling and systems that automate event tracking and alerts.
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in event‑driven research at a hedge fund, trading desk, or research firm.
- Proven ability to produce actionable insights from real‑time news, on‑chain data, or macro catalysts.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in crypto, blockchain, or digital assets.
- Strong understanding of catalysts and their impact on short‑term volatility across traditional and digital markets.
- Ability to synthesise information quickly and forecast market reactions with conviction.
- Solid grasp of market micro-structure and liquidity dynamics.
- High situational awareness and agility in a fast‑moving trading environment.
