I'm working on behalf of a leading investment bank's Equity Research platform that is looking to add a Senior Associate to its Consumer & Retail team in New York.
This individual will work closely with a senior publishing analyst, covering a broad universe of public consumer and retail companies. The role offers significant exposure to fundamental company analysis, primary research, financial modeling, earnings analysis, and direct interaction with institutional investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop detailed financial and valuation models
- Perform in-depth fundamental research on consumer and retail businesses
- Conduct channel checks and other forms of primary research to identify industry trends and company-specific developments
- Produce written research on earnings, company events, industry developments, and investment themes
- Analyze company financials, competitive positioning, and market dynamics
- Help prepare marketing materials and investor presentations
- Participate in management meetings, industry conferences, and client-facing events
- Engage with sales, trading, and institutional clients to communicate research insights
Ideal Background
- 3-7 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, buy-side research, or a related analytical role
- Strong financial modeling and accounting skills
- Demonstrated interest in public markets and investing
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into a clear investment thesis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience covering Consumer, Retail, E-Commerce, or adjacent sectors is preferred but not required
