Director - Consultant Relations (Alternatives)
A large asset manager is seeking a senior professional to lead consultant relations for alternative investment strategies. This individual will be responsible for building and deepening relationships with global and national consulting firms, ensuring the firm's capabilities in private markets are well understood and effectively represented. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in consultant engagement and a strong background in alternatives, including private equity, private credit, or other private market solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to strengthen relationships with alternative-focused consultants and expand influence across traditional consulting firms where alternatives are relevant.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for key consultant organizations, delivering insights and positioning investment capabilities to drive advocacy.
- Engage across consultant channels-manager research, field consultants, OCIO teams, and senior leadership-to promote strategies and secure recommendations.
- Monitor consultant research priorities and industry trends, sharing insights internally to inform product development and positioning.
- Represent the firm at consultant meetings, conferences, and industry events, acting as a thought leader and bringing back actionable intelligence.
- Collaborate with institutional sales and relationship management teams to ensure alignment and execution of consultant-related initiatives.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of alternative investment strategies, competitive dynamics, and market developments.
Qualifications:
- 8-12 years of experience in consultant relations, institutional sales, or investor relations, with a strong focus on alternative investments.
- Established relationships within the consultant community and proven ability to influence recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
- Highly organized, proactive, and collaborative, with strong project management capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA preferred.
