A leading international investment management firm is seeking an experienced Italian‑speaking Fundraising Director to expand its footprint across the Italian market. The firm specialises in high‑conviction public market and alternative solutions. Key Responsibilities
Market Coverage & Fundraising
- Lead fundraising and distribution efforts across Italian institutional investors, mutual fund selectors, family offices, wealth managers, and mid‑tier investors.
- Expand the firm's reach beyond major institutions by engaging smaller and more specialised investor segments.
- Develop strong, trust‑based commercial relationships, emphasising long‑term partnership over performance‑chasing behaviour.
- Manage the full sales cycle: origination, pitching, follow‑up, onboarding, and ongoing client servicing.
Investment Communication
- Articulate complex investment processes.
- Communicate periods of performance dispersion with clarity and conviction, ensuring investors understand long‑term drivers.
- Provide ongoing education to clients on the firm's approach, factor exposures, and portfolio characteristics.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the investment team based in London, including access to senior portfolio managers and CIO-level leadership.
- Ensure accurate and insightful feedback loops between Italian clients and the investment teams.
- Collaborate with European sales teams distributed across Luxembourg, Germany, France and Spain to manage cross-regional accounts and maintain consistent messaging.
Brand & Presence
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, consultant meetings, and client seminars.
- Act as the firm's senior representative in Milan, contributing to the local presence and being part of a small but strategically significant office.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Native Italian speaker, culturally fluent with a deep understanding of Italian relationship‑driven business dynamics.
- 8-15+ years of experience in fundraising or distribution for:
- Asset managers
- Hedge funds
- Private debt managers
- Strong network across Italian institutional and professional investor channels.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and technical investment content to sophisticated audiences.
- Track record of raising assets across both large and mid‑sized investors.
- Highly persuasive, credible, and comfortable navigating multi‑committee decision structures.
