2LOD Operational Risk Consultant
We are partnered with a growing institution to bring on a leader to their risk management team. This role sits within the Second Line of Defense (2LOD) and partners closely with the business to provide independent oversight, challenge, and guidance on risk management activities. The position ensures that risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated in line with the firm's risk framework and appetite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with business leaders to identify and assess operational and financial risks across day-to-day activities and strategic initiatives
- Support and challenge risk assessments including:Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), Scenario analysis, Root cause analysis
- Ensure risks are clearly understood and factored into business decision-making
- Help define and maintain risk appetite statements, thresholds, and key risk indicators (KRIs)
- Monitor against risk appetite and work with stakeholders to address areas where risk exceeds acceptable level
- Evaluate whether controls and policies are appropriately designed and effective
- Provide constructive challenge on control gaps, deficiencies, and remediation plans
- Provide risk advisory support on key initiatives such as: New products or business lines, M&A or integration activities, Platform or process changes
- Oversee production of risk reporting and management information (MI) including:KRI performance, Risk events and incidents, Control issues and remediation status
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the business and promote a strong risk culture through, training, guidance and awareness iniatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Operational Risk / Risk Management, 2LOD preferred.
Strong understanding of risk frameworks, controls, and concepts.
Background in Financial Services, Commodities, or Capital Markets
