Underwriter
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with brokers and third-party administrators (TPAs) to quote and negotiate specific and aggregate stop loss pricing and terms.
- Manage renewals, new business, and RFPs within assigned underwriting authority and guidelines.
- Evaluate large claim risks in coordination with medical underwriting.
- Maintain a profitable book of business while supporting growth objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, TPAs, and other business partners.
- Oversee RFP workflow and underwriting setup processes.
- Provide feedback on underwriting policies and procedures to enhance team performance.
- Partner with the marketing team to develop effective sales strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience underwriting medical stop loss.
- Familiarity with the Kevin Ugan Stop Loss system is a plus.
- Proven ability to negotiate proposals and work directly with producers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel 1-2 times per quarter.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
