Senior Accountant
Our client, a growing P&C insurance carrier, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting full-cycle accounting processes, with a strong focus on reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial services or insurance and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP, STAT and company policies
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather and validate financial data
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-7 years of accounting experience, preferably within financial services or insurance
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and full-cycle accounting processes
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Knowledge of GAAP; exposure to statutory accounting is a plus (for insurance)
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems/ERP platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
