Linux Engineer
A leading global hedge fund is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join its global infrastructure team, responsible for a complex Linux estate supporting critical trading systems and low‑latency platforms.
This role involves collaboration with application, trading, and support teams to design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and high‑performance infrastructure that underpins global trading operations. You will have genuine scope to influence platform strategy, lead automation initiatives, and work at the intersection of infrastructure, performance engineering, and software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance monitoring and observability capabilities across the infrastructure stack
- Analyse, troubleshoot, and tune performance across systems, networks, and applications
- Support build and release management processes in a fast‑paced environment
- Own and evolve the Linux platform supporting global, latency‑sensitive trading environments
- Partner with application and support teams to deliver a secure and scalable infrastructure
- Lead the design and long‑term evolution of automation frameworks, tools, and processes
Requirements
- Deep expertise in Linux systems, ideally Red Hat-based distributions
- Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, and Grafana
- Experience with build and release management systems
- Strong programming skills in Python and Bash
- Experience building and operating large‑scale and/or low‑latency platforms
- Strong background in automation and configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef), including architectural ownership
- Strong understanding of the server network stack and network protocols (TCP, UDP, IGMP, LAN/WAN technologies)
- Proven experience in performance analysis and tuning
