Junior Index Quantitative Researcher
Overview
We are seeking a Junior Index Quantitative Researcher to join a growing systematic investment team focused on index, ETF, and quantitative equity strategies. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career researcher to work alongside experienced Portfolio Managers and Quant Researchers, contributing to the development of factor models, index analytics, portfolio construction tools, and systematic investment strategies.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to the full investment process, from data analysis and research through to model implementation and performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative research across index and ETF products.
- Analyse large financial datasets to identify investment opportunities and market trends.
- Assist in the development and improvement of factor, risk, and portfolio construction models.
- Perform backtesting and validation of systematic investment strategies.
- Monitor index rebalances, constituent changes, and factor exposures.
- Support the enhancement of research infrastructure and automation tools.
- Produce analytics and reports for Portfolio Managers and investment teams.
- Evaluate alternative datasets and assist with signal research projects.
- Work closely with developers and senior researchers to implement research findings.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Solid understanding of statistics, probability, and data analysis techniques.
- Interest in systematic investing, quantitative research, and financial markets.
- Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ETFs, indices, or equity markets through internships, academic projects, or professional experience.
- Knowledge of factor investing and portfolio construction concepts.
- Familiarity with SQL and financial data providers.
- Exposure to machine learning, optimisation, or predictive modelling techniques.
- Understanding of index methodologies and benchmark construction.

They should be comfortable working with data, have a strong coding foundation, and possess a genuine interest in understanding how systematic investment strategies are researched, developed, and implemented.
