VP - Financial Crimes Model Risk Management
A leading financial institution is seeking a Model Validation Lead to support its enterprise-wide model risk oversight function. You will actively identify, monitor, and report on model risk findings in a transparent/timely manner. This role focuses on validating models used in Compliance and Fraud analytics, ensuring they meet regulatory and internal standards. The position offers exposure to a wide range of business areas and the opportunity to influence model governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently validate models by assessing conceptual soundness, evaluating data and assumptions, testing statistical performance, and reviewing implementation accuracy
- Prepare detailed documentation of validation findings and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and monitor remediation plans
- Contribute to the enhancement and execution of the firm's model risk management framework, policies, and procedures
- Provide guidance on model development best practices and control design to ensure effective model use and monitoring
- Stay current with regulatory developments and emerging trends in model risk, AI/ML, and compliance analytics
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and support internal audit and regulatory reviews as needed
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in financial services, with a focus on risk modeling in Compliance (e.g., AML, sanctions) or Fraud
- Proficiency in Python, R, or SAS preferred
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in risk modeling is a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field required; advanced degree preferred
