Implementation Specialist
Position Summary:
My client, a respected Third Party Administrator (TPA) specializing in Defined Contribution retirement plans, is seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Implementation Specialist. This role is responsible for managing the onboarding and setup of new retirement plans, ensuring a smooth transition from sales to ongoing administration. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, a deep understanding of DC plan structures, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Lead the end-to-end implementation process for new Defined Contribution plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and profit-sharing plans.Client Onboarding:
Serve as the primary point of contact for new clients during the implementation phase. Coordinate kickoff meetings, gather plan specifications, and manage timelines.Plan Design & Documentation:
Collaborate with clients, advisors, and internal teams to finalize plan design. Ensure accurate preparation and delivery of plan documents, adoption agreements, and related materials.Data Integration:
Facilitate the setup of payroll feeds, contribution schedules, and participant data with recordkeepers and payroll providers.Compliance Coordination:
Ensure plans are implemented in accordance with IRS and DOL regulations. Work with compliance teams to confirm nondiscrimination testing and eligibility requirements.Internal Collaboration:
Partner with sales, client services, and compliance teams to ensure a seamless handoff and ongoing support post-implementation.Issue Resolution:
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the onboarding process, maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in retirement plan administration or implementation, preferably with a TPA
- Strong knowledge of Defined Contribution plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and profit-sharing plans
- Familiarity with plan documents, ERISA regulations, and IRS compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with retirement plan software a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Skills:
- ASPPA or NIPA certification (e.g., QKA, QPA) is a plus
- Experience working with recordkeepers and payroll providers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
