Executive Property Underwriter
Overview:
A fast-growing specialty insurance carrier is seeking a seasoned property underwriting leader to shape and manage its U.S. property portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a data-driven, collaborative environment and has deep experience working with MGAs, reinsurance partners, and catastrophe modeling tools.
What You'll Do:
- Lead strategic development of property programs through MGA partnerships
- Evaluate program submissions, pricing models, and catastrophe exposure
- Collaborate with actuarial and reinsurance teams to optimize portfolio performance
- Develop underwriting guidelines and performance metrics
- Monitor aggregate exposures and provide feedback to partners
- Support treaty structuring and renewal negotiations
- Align underwriting practices with reinsurance strategies
What You Bring:
- Experience working with reinsurance brokers and actuarial teams
- Property underwriting experience, including program and reinsurance experience
- Strong understanding of CAT modeling platforms (RMS, AIR, CoreLogic)
- Proven ability to assess MGA submissions and manage delegated authority programs
- Familiarity with surplus lines and E&S markets
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with parametric products or alternative risk transfer
- Exposure to emerging property data tools
- Background in both personal and commercial property sectors
- International or global reinsurance experience
