Emerging Markets Credit Trader
Role Overview
Oppenheimer is seeking an entrepreneurial Emerging Markets (EM) Credit Trader at the VP level to join its growing EM trading platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking and managing risk across EM sovereign and corporate credit, with flexibility regarding the specific regions traded (CEEMEA, LatAm, Asia, or cross‑regional).
This is a high-impact role suited for someone who has direct trading experience in EM credit, brings strong market instincts, and thrives in a nimble, fast‑paced, and commercially driven environment. The position offers the platform and autonomy to help expand Oppenheimer's EM footprint while working closely with sales, research, and senior risk-takers.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Risk Management
- Trade EM credit products across sovereign, quasi‑sovereign, and corporate bonds; potential crossover into EM CDS.
- Manage risk responsibly and profitably within assigned limits.
- Identify relative-value, macro-driven, and catalyst-driven trading opportunities across the EM universe.
- Monitor global macro conditions, flows, and geopolitical developments that impact EM assets.
Client Engagement & Franchise Development
- Work closely with EM and generalist sales teams to generate and respond to client flow.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with real money, hedge funds, private banks, and regional EM specialists.
- Provide liquidity to clients while helping to expand Oppenheimer's presence across EM credit markets.
