Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned underwriting professional to lead and manage a high-performing team within the Allied Healthcare segment. This leadership role will be responsible for driving profitable growth, mentoring underwriters, managing broker relationships, and overseeing portfolio performance across the U.S. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor underwriting talent to build a cohesive, high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture across regional underwriting teams.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities to elevate underwriting capabilities and career growth.
- Promote a strong team identity and shared purpose across geographies.
Strategic Growth & Execution
- Collaborate with product leadership to implement and execute national strategies for Allied Healthcare.
- Lead marketing and broker engagement initiatives to drive new business and exceed growth targets.
- Monitor and manage underwriting pipelines, productivity, and quote-to-bind ratios.
- Guide underwriters toward high-value opportunities and ensure alignment with appetite and profitability goals.
Portfolio Oversight
- Own the national Allied Healthcare underwriting portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Drive rate adequacy, class mix optimization, and strategic portfolio adjustments.
- Partner with actuarial, compliance, and product teams to enhance offerings and market positioning.
Broker & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key wholesale and retail brokers.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and broker meetings.
- Oversee renewal strategies and ensure consistent, proactive engagement to maximize retention.
- Support underwriters in complex negotiations and high-impact opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with claims, operations, and marketing to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
- Provide feedback on tools, systems, and workflows to improve underwriting efficiency and broker experience.
- Identify and support cross-sell opportunities across product lines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 8 years of underwriting experience in Allied Healthcare or related healthcare segments.
- At least 2-3 years in a leadership or team management role.
- Proven success in developing broker relationships and growing a profitable book of business.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in portfolio management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Professional designations such as CPCU or RPLU are a plus.
- Ability to travel 20-30% nationally.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $175,000 - $200,000
