Account Manager (Environmental & Toxic Tort Claims)
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Claims Account Manager to handle and coordinate activities involving environmental, asbestos, and latent type claims. This role includes resolving coverage issues and establishing adequate reserves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, investigate, and evaluate new loss notices and claim tenders.
- Collaborate with policy search teams to locate alleged coverage.
- Position claims under applicable primary, umbrella, and excess coverage.
- Coordinate retention of defense counsel with stakeholders.
- Establish defense strategy with insured, defense counsel, and other insurance carriers.
- Manage case resolution process and participate in mediation within settlement authority.
- Work with the reinsurance department to provide updates and respond to inquiries.
- Manage declaratory judgment actions with in-house legal/management.
- Set appropriate reserves for claims.
- Process payments and verify proper allocation across policies.
- Document claims in accordance with established guidelines.
- Obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required.
- Travel as necessary.

Education and Experience:
- B.A./B.S. degree required; J.D. preferred.
- CPCU or other industry designation a plus.
- Minimum three years of experience handling environmental and/or latent claims, or a legal degree with three years of experience in insurance coverage of environmental and/or latent claims, or seven to ten years of experience in property casualty claims.
