Account Manager (Environmental & Toxic Tort Claims)

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Claims Account Manager to handle and coordinate activities involving environmental, asbestos, and latent type claims. This role includes resolving coverage issues and establishing adequate reserves.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, investigate, and evaluate new loss notices and claim tenders.
• Collaborate with policy search teams to locate alleged coverage.
• Position claims under applicable primary, umbrella, and excess coverage.
• Coordinate retention of defense counsel with stakeholders.
• Establish defense strategy with insured, defense counsel, and other insurance carriers.
• Manage case resolution process and participate in mediation within settlement authority.
• Work with the reinsurance department to provide updates and respond to inquiries.
• Manage declaratory judgment actions with in-house legal/management.
• Set appropriate reserves for claims.
• Process payments and verify proper allocation across policies.
• Document claims in accordance with established guidelines.
• Obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required.
• Travel as necessary.

Education and Experience:

• B.A./B.S. degree required; J.D. preferred.
• CPCU or other industry designation a plus.
• Minimum three years of experience handling environmental and/or latent claims, or a legal degree with three years of experience in insurance coverage of environmental and/or latent claims, or seven to ten years of experience in property casualty claims.
