VP Corporate Development & Principal Investments
Job Description (Role can be based in New York City for a year and then relocation to Austin)
Our Client's Private Equity team within the Capital Management division sits at the center of all the action across the firm, serving as leaders and collaborators with every function that touches the lifecycle of our investment products - from research and business development through financing and portfolio management. The team originates, evaluates, and executes a wide range of transactions, including new ventures and funds, debt and equity capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and general business development initiatives. Across our real estate equity and credit strategies, the firm has raised billions in capital and deployed it at scale, building a vertically integrated investment and operating platform.
We are seeking a highly motivated VP/Senior Associate to take on a greater degree of ownership over deal execution than a traditional Associate role, while working closely with the Executive Director and other Executive-level team members across the full transaction lifecycle. This person will independently drive financial analysis and due diligence on assigned transactions, contribute directly to deal structuring conversations, and serve as an experienced resource to junior team members - including stepping into a more senior, hands-on capacity when called on.
Responsibilities
· Own the financial and valuation analysis of potential acquisitions and transactions - including unleveraged, leveraged, and structured modeling - with minimal day-to-day oversight.
· Independently identify, size, and articulate the major risks associated with an investment opportunity, in both verbal and written form to executive team.
· Manage the day-to-day investment process on assigned deals: due diligence, market research, physical and location assessment, comparables analysis, and coordination with internal teams and third-party providers.
· Contribute directly to deal structuring and financing discussions, partnering with the ED on pricing, terms, and risk positioning.
· Coordinate work product with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory parties.
· Collaborate across Portfolio Management, Asset Management, Property Management, Acquisitions, and Construction on new and existing initiatives.
· Prepare board- and executive-level reporting materials on tight timelines.
· Help develop client- and lender-facing presentations, and participate directly in select client and lender conversations alongside senior team members.
· Establish and maintain guidelines for how valuations and underwriting are performed, ensuring consistency with market values and trends.
· Serve as a senior resource to junior team members, sharing expertise and helping guide day-to-day work product.
