Sales & Business Operations Analyst
Selby Jennings is partnering with a global steel and metal manufacturing company headquartered in Irving, Texas. We are seeking a dynamic Sales Operations & Business Analytics to play a critical role in strengthening our commercial performance and supporting strategic decision‑making across the organization. In this role, you will drive improvements in sales processes, build insightful reporting frameworks, and partner closely with cross‑functional teams including the sales team and business analyst team.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Operations
- Partner with business leaders to develop sales playbooks and structured commercial processes.
- Streamline and enhance sales workflows to ensure a smooth customer experience and operational clarity.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and design a scalable, connected tech ecosystem.
- Work cross‑functionally to uncover growth opportunities and operational inefficiencies.
Business Analytics & Reporting
- Lead the creation, accuracy, and consistency of commercial reporting and performance dashboards.
- Produce data‑driven insights using visualization tools to support leadership decision‑making.
- Analyze sales metrics such as activity trends, pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and productivity.
- Turn complex datasets into clear, compelling narratives for business stakeholders.
- Leverage SQL, Python, and advanced Excel for data modeling and analysis.
- Support development of reliable, scalable data infrastructure and warehousing practices.
Strategic Planning & Project Leadership
- Contribute to annual planning cycles and go‑to‑market strategy design.
- Drive initiatives that improve sales productivity, customer engagement, and process efficiency.
- Collaborate with Sales Enablement to train and support teams on analytics tools and sales technologies.
- Manage cross‑functional projects, preferably using platforms such as Monday.com.
Pricing & Commercial Strategy
- Conduct internal and external market research to support pricing decisions.
- Assist in developing pricing frameworks that enhance profitability.
- Track pricing performance and recommend adjustments to close performance gaps.
- Manage execution of price changes and partner with vendors to support CPQ implementation.
AI & Advanced Analytics
- Use AI‑powered tools to strengthen forecasting, segmentation, lead scoring, and pricing optimization.
- Apply prompt engineering and automation techniques to improve reporting and insight generation.
- Explore new AI capabilities within sales and commercial systems to drive operational excellence.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Act as a bridge between Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product, and Enablement teams.
- Support cross‑functional commercial initiatives with analytical insights and operational execution.
- Present recommendations to senior leaders and help shape decision‑making on strategic priorities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years' experience in sales operations, business analytics, pricing, or a similar function.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking capability.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, SQL, and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience working with CRM systems; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms (SAP experience is a plus).
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and work autonomously when needed.
- Experience with AI‑enabled analytics tools and/or prompt engineering is advantageous.
- Exposure to the building products or manufacturing industry is helpful but not required.
