Lead Casualty Pricing Actuary
Selby Jennings have partnered with a global specialty insurer, currently seeking a skilled Senior Pricing Actuary to join their European Casualty team.
This is a high-impact opportunity to lead actuarial support for a diverse and complex portfolio across Continental Europe. The successful candidate will act as the lead actuarial partner to underwriting teams, driving profitability analysis, strategic planning, and technical pricing initiatives.
You'll be responsible for portfolio performance reviews, case pricing for large accounts, and the development of pricing tools and models. You'll lead the parameterization of underwriting risk for capital modelling purposes and collaborate closely with underwriters and global actuarial teams to ensure pricing strategies are robust and data-driven.
The role also includes direct management of analysts and coaching of offshore actuarial support, offering a strong leadership component. You'll play a key role in business performance reviews, rate monitoring, and inflation impact analysis, while also contributing to the development of advanced analytics capabilities.
Role Requirements:
- Qualified actuary or nearing qualification.
- Proven expertise in case pricing, portfolio management, and loss modelling.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience with commercial insurance and catastrophe risk.
- Proficiency in English; additional European languages (e.g. French, German, Italian, Spanish) are a plus.
- Strong technical skills in tools such as R, SQL, Python, VBA, Radar, ResQ, or Qlik.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, international environment.
