About the Opportunity
Our client is a highly regarded boutique investment bank seeking an exceptional Investment Banking Associate to join its growing team. This role is ideal for a top-performing Investment Banking Analyst approaching promotion or a current Associate 1-2 looking to take on greater responsibility and client exposure within an entrepreneurial environment.
The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in M&A advisory, financial modeling, valuation, and transaction execution gained at a leading bulge bracket investment bank. This is an opportunity to work directly with senior bankers on complex transactions while operating in a lean team environment where initiative, adaptability, and intellectual curiosity are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute M&A transactions from initial pitch through closing.
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including DCF, LBO, merger consequences, and operating models.
- Perform company, industry, and transaction analyses.
- Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, CIMs, management presentations, and board materials.
- Coordinate due diligence processes and data room management.
- Interact directly with clients, buyers, investors, legal counsel, and other transaction stakeholders.
- Manage analysts and oversee work streams to ensure quality and timely execution.
- Support business development initiatives and identify strategic opportunities for clients.
- Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where responsibilities may extend beyond traditional associate-level duties.
Qualifications
Required
- 2-5 years of investment banking experience.
- Currently an Investment Banking Analyst at a bulge bracket bank and on track for promotion this summer, or an Associate 1 or Associate 2 at a bulge bracket institution.
- Significant M&A transaction experience with demonstrable execution responsibilities.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and transaction processes.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable operating in an ambiguous, evolving role with significant ownership.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree from an Ivy League institution or other highly accredited and academically rigorous university.
- Strong academic track record.
- Experience working on middle-market and/or large-cap transactions.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or project management experience.
