Industrials Lead Portfolio Manager, L/S Equity
A rapidly growing hedge fund is looking to hire a Lead Industrials Portfolio Manager to take ownership of the sector and build out a dedicated long/short strategy from London.
The fund is experiencing exceptional growth and is investing heavily in its equities platform. This hire will be given meaningful capital, strong institutional infrastructure and the freedom to establish a significant Industrials franchise within the business.
There is substantial white space within the sector, making this an attractive opportunity for a PM who wants more than simply another allocation. The successful candidate will become the fund's senior Industrials investor, leading idea generation, portfolio construction and the future development of the strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead investment coverage across the Industrials sector
- Manage a concentrated, fundamental equity long/short portfolio
- Generate differentiated long and short ideas with limited reliance on market direction
- Maintain disciplined portfolio construction and risk management
- Develop the fund's Industrials strategy and coverage model
- Build a team as the strategy and capital allocation grow
Requirements
- Strong Industrials investing experience across L/S equities
- Proven or highly credible investment track record
- Experience managing a portfolio, sleeve or meaningful risk allocation
- Deep fundamental research and company-analysis capabilities
- Repeatable alpha-generation process across both long and short positions
- Clear understanding of gross and net exposure, factor risk, liquidity and drawdown management
- Ambition to build and lead a meaningful sector franchise
The role would suit an established Portfolio Manager, an experienced Sub-PM or a senior sector specialist with the investment credibility to step into a lead position.
