Head of Infrastructure
We are partnering with a high‑growth fintech and payments firm in Amsterdam that is building the next generation of scalable, secure, and highly available payment platforms. As Head of Infrastructure, you will own the strategy, reliability, and evolution of the company's core infrastructure, enabling continued product innovation, regulatory compliance, and international scale.
This is a senior leadership role combining hands‑on technical depth with strategic ownership, working closely with engineering, security, product, and executive leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute the infrastructure and platform strategy supporting high‑volume, mission‑critical payment systems
- Lead and grow teams across Infrastructure, Cloud, SRE/DevOps, and Platform Engineering
- Own availability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency of production systems
- Drive cloud and platform best practices (IaC, CI/CD, observability, automation)
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams on regulatory, audit, and operational resilience requirements
- Enable engineering teams through self‑service platforms and clear operational standards
- Act as a senior technical voice in architectural decisions and incident response
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in a senior infrastructure leadership role (Head of Infrastructure, Head of Platform, Director of Engineering - Infra, etc.)
- Background in fintech, payments, financial services, or other highly regulated environments
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern platform design
- Experience leading high‑availability, high‑throughput systems
- Track record of building and scaling high‑performing infrastructure teams
- Comfort operating at both strategic and hands‑on technical levels
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with executive leadership
Nice to have
- Experience with payments, card networks, or real‑time financial systems
- Exposure to multi‑region / global infrastructure
- Strong understanding of incident management, SLOs, and operational excellence
- Prior involvement in regulatory or compliance‑driven technology environments
