Data Analyst/Scientist - L/S Equity
Partnered with a prestigious hedge fund in the New York area looking to expand headcount for one of their PM teams. The group is embedded within the fundamental long/short equity business and are targeting a strong Data Analyst/Scientist. This new hire will collaborate directly with the Portfolio Manager by leveraging a variety of data sources/systems to support investment theses and help inform investment decisions. Further qualifications and responsibilities below:
Responsibilities:
- Analyze data to directly support idea generation and investment decisions with a focus on equities
- Design and maintain data products relevant to the team's specific sector
- Extract actionable insights and information from complex datasets
- Develop automated systems that can analyze/ingest a wide range of information in order to support decision making in a timely manner
- Develop custom libraries and data pipelines that can enhance the team's analytical capabilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's (preferably masters) in a STEM subject
- Must have experience working with unstructured and structured data
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts and it's relation to large scale data analysis
- Strong programming skills in Python or R
- Experience with data visualization
