My client is looking for a Construction Underwriter to join their growing insurtech MGU, focused on building out a profitable and scalable contractors' book of business.

This individual will play a key role in driving new business production while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards within the construction and contractors space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new business submissions focused on construction and contractor risks across multiple classes
  • Drive new business development by building strong relationships with wholesale brokers and distribution partners
  • Evaluate risk exposure, pricing, and coverage structures within an MGU framework
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including claims, product, and technology to support underwriting strategy and workflow efficiency
  • Contribute to portfolio management, ensuring profitable growth and adherence to underwriting guidelines
  • Provide market insight and feedback to help shape underwriting appetite and product evolution

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of underwriting experience within P&C insurance, with a strong focus on construction or contractor risks
  • Proven track record of new business production and broker relationship development
  • Experience working at an MGA or MGU, or within a highly delegated authority environment, is strongly preferred
  • Strong technical underwriting skills with the ability to assess complex risks
  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, tech enabled environment
