Commodities Risk Advisory Manager
This is a high-impact, strategic risk leadership role to join the team as a Risk Advisory Manager who would serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, help to shape the risk culture and work closely with the CRO to do so. You would influence strategy, challenge assumptions and be a driver of change for the company with exposure to various products beyond what you know now as well as M&As, new product launches and much more. In this role you would be leading risk assessments, define risk appetite and ensure alignment with the global risk framework.
Candidates must have commodities/energy experience with any commodities and a risk management background. Ideal candidates have experience in risk management at a commodity trader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business units to identify and assess operational, financial, and strategic risks.
- Support risk assessments (RCSA, scenario analysis, etc.) and challenge assumptions.
- Define and monitor risk appetite and key risk indicators.
- Review new initiatives for risk implications and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
- Evaluate control frameworks and address deficiencies.
- Conduct targeted risk reviews and support assurance activities.
- Provide risk reporting and insights to leadership and committees.
- Oversee business continuity planning and crisis response coordination.
- Lead training to enhance risk awareness across the organization.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years in operational risk within financial services, ideally capital markets.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and risk frameworks.
- Familiarity with energy/commodities markets and post-trade workflows.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
