About the Team
The Distressed Credit & Special Situations team at our client focuses on opportunistic stressed and distressed investments, as well as special situations control opportunities across the U.S. and Europe. Operating with a private equity-style approach to sourcing, diligence, and execution, the team has been together since 2016 and currently manages approximately $2.5 billion in assets. They are actively investing from their third special situations fund and an opportunistic private credit vehicle. The team values collaboration, intellectual rigor, and a strong culture of performance and integrity.
Position Overview
Associates play a key role in analyzing and executing new investment opportunities and supporting portfolio monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, advanced financial modeling capabilities, and the ability to interpret complex financial and legal documents. The team seeks individuals who are detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and passionate about investing and learning across diverse business models.
This is a two-year program with a strong track record of promotion for high performers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed financial modeling and valuation analysis
- Conduct in-depth company and industry research
- Support investment execution, including preparation of investment committee materials
- Develop presentations and written materials for internal and external stakeholders
- Present findings and analysis to the investment team and committee
- Monitor market trends and industry developments
- Assist in post-investment portfolio monitoring
- Engage with management teams, advisors, and other stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- At least one year of experience as an investment banking analyst or management consultant, ideally with exposure to restructuring, leveraged finance, M&A, or a relevant industry group
- Experience at a credit-focused buy-side firm (e.g., hedge fund, direct lending, BDC) is a plus
- Strong analytical, modeling, and communication skills
- Self-starter with sound judgment and a collaborative mindset
Compensation
The salary range for this position in New York is $120,000 - $125,000, with annual incentive compensation of up to 100% of base salary in the first year and up to $175,000 in the second year. Total compensation will vary based on experience, skills, and location.
