Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Underwriter to join our client's specialty lines team. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building broker relationships and driving profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and price new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to drive submission flow and bind quality business.
- Analyze risk characteristics and coverage needs to structure appropriate insurance solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams including actuarial, claims, and compliance to ensure sound underwriting decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategic planning and product development.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
- 3-7 years of underwriting experience, preferably within an MGA or carrier environment focused on specialty lines (e.g., E&O, D&O, cyber, environmental, excess casualty).
- Proven track record of production underwriting and broker relationship management.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage a book of business with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; CPCU or RPLU designation a plus.
