Position Summary

The Employee Benefits Producer is responsible for driving new business development and revenue growth across the Southeast region. This role focuses on building strong local relationships, developing a consistent pipeline of opportunities, and delivering strategic employee benefits solutions to mid-market and large employers.

The Producer operates as a consultative advisor, partnering with clients to design cost-effective and competitive benefits programs while leveraging the firm's brokerage and consulting resources. Success in this role requires a strong regional network, entrepreneurial mindset, and deep understanding of the Southeast marketplace.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Regional Growth

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy focused on the Southeast market (e.g., FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, AL)
  • Identify and close new business opportunities across target client segments
  • Build a strong pipeline through networking, centers of influence (CPAs, attorneys), industry events, and local market engagement
  • Achieve or exceed annual new revenue goals

Relationship Development

  • Leverage existing relationships and build new connections within the Southeast business community
  • Establish trusted advisor relationships with HR leaders, CFOs, and executive stakeholders
  • Maintain high visibility in local and regional organizations, associations, and networking groups

Consultative Sales & Solutions

  • Evaluate client needs and deliver tailored benefits strategies, including:
    • Medical, dental, vision
    • Life, disability, and voluntary benefits
    • Self-funded, level-funded, and alternative funding arrangements
  • Partner with internal teams (analytics, underwriting, compliance) to design competitive solutions
  • Deliver compelling presentations and negotiate with carriers on behalf of clients

Client Stewardship & Retention Support

  • Partner with account management and service teams to ensure a seamless client experience
  • Support renewal strategy and identify opportunities for account expansion
  • Maintain ongoing client engagement to strengthen retention and drive cross-sell

Market & Carrier Engagement

  • Develop strong relationships with regional and national carriers operating in the Southeast
  • Stay informed on state-specific regulations, market trends, and pricing dynamics
  • Represent the firm at regional conferences, trade groups, and industry events

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5-12+ years of experience in employee benefits brokerage, consulting, or insurance sales
  • Proven success selling into mid-market and/or large group clients
  • Strong network and market presence within the Southeast region

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Active Life & Health insurance license (or ability to obtain in multiple Southeast states)
  • Industry designations (CEBS, RHU, REBC) are a plus

  • Existing book of business or portable relationships in the Southeast
  • Experience with self-funded and alternative funding strategies
  • Background working with industries prevalent in the region (healthcare, manufacturing, education, public sector, etc.)
  • Multi-state licensing across the Southeast
