This position is ideal for individuals with a strong commercial background who are keen to deepen their exposure to international trading, market development, and physical commodity flows. Working closely with experienced traders, originators, and operations professionals, the successful candidate will play an active role in developing business opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting the growth of key product portfolios. Over time, the role offers a clear pathway toward greater commercial ownership and trading responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the growth and development of assigned petrochemical product portfolios by identifying new business opportunities and market trends.
- Conduct market research and maintain commercial intelligence tools, including supply-demand analysis, pricing assessments, and competitor tracking.
- Build and maintain relationships with producers, traders, distributors, and end-users across regional and international markets.
- Assist in identifying, negotiating, and executing spot and term trading opportunities under the guidance of senior commercial team members.
- Contribute to origination efforts by developing new customer accounts and expanding existing commercial relationships.
- Work closely with trading, operations, and logistics teams to ensure the smooth execution of physical transactions.
- Support trade performance analysis, including monitoring transaction profitability and preparing commercial reports for management review.
- Collaborate with risk management teams to monitor market exposure and gain exposure to price risk management and hedging practices.
- Partner with other petrochemical and energy trading desks to share market insights, identify synergies, and capitalize on cross-product opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of regional market developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends that may impact trading activities.
Requirements
- At least 3-4 years of commercial, marketing, trading, or business development experience within the petrochemical, chemical, or commodity trading industry.
- Exposure to products such as Phenol, Acetone, Butadiene (BD), Aromatics, Olefins, Solvents, or related petrochemical products would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of physical commodity trading processes and chemical logistics, including ISO tanks, drums, bulk shipments, and packaged cargo movements.
- Established network of industry contacts across producers, traders, distributors, or end-users within the petrochemical value chain.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with the ability to identify, develop, and execute business opportunities.
- Strong interest in commodity trading, market development, and commercial strategy, with aspirations to take on broader responsibilities over time.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to interpret market information and translate insights into actionable commercial decisions.
- Effective communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across different cultures and regions.
- Self-driven, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment.
