M&A Renewables - Director
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate due diligence on target companies using structured frameworks to assess business operations, asset base, capabilities, ESG considerations and financial performance, as well as overall strategic alignment.
- Manage end-to-end execution of M&A mandates, liaising with clients, counterparties and external advisors (legal, accounting, tax, etc.) to ensure smooth delivery across all workstreams.
- Analyse publicly available information, internal materials and financial disclosures to build detailed operating and financial models.
- Develop and apply valuation models to assess transactions including acquisitions, divestments, restructurings and other strategic initiatives.
- Perform valuation analysis and provide recommendations to support client decision-making.
- Conduct deep-dive research on companies, industries and geographies, and prepare marketing materials such as teasers, information memoranda and presentations.
- Oversee transaction documentation and ensure all administrative aspects are effectively managed.
- Support transaction structuring and contribute to key commercial considerations.
- Assist in negotiating key commercial terms on behalf of clients.
- Prepare internal and external approval materials, including board papers and supporting documentation.
Sector Coverage / Origination
- Support deal execution and origination within the broader energy transition and environmental infrastructure space (e.g. renewable energy, power & utilities, environmental services, water, waste, e-mobility, energy storage, etc.).
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through a strong understanding of client needs and a solutions-driven advisory approach.
- Contribute to pitching and origination activities, taking an active role in early-stage client engagement and supporting transactions through to completion.
- Work closely with coverage and product teams to identify strategic opportunities and deliver integrated advisory solutions.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Approximately 7+ years of experience in investment banking, with a strong focus on M&A.
- Track record of executing transactions within the energy, utilities or infrastructure sectors across Asia.
- Established client relationships at the senior deal team level within the relevant sector.
- Experience independently managing key legal and transactional workstreams (e.g. SPA, insurance solutions) in M&A deals.
- Professional certifications (e.g. CFA) advantageous.
- Proficiency in Mandarin preferred due to cross-border interaction with North Asian stakeholders.
