Defined Benefit Consultant
Job Overview:
This company is seeking an experienced professional to provide expert guidance on ERISA compliance, plan design, and reporting for Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) plans. The role involves assisting with key tasks such as testing, Form 5500 filings, loans, distributions, and plan design. You will be responsible for client meetings (both in-person and via phone), ensuring the smooth operation of retirement plans, and providing support for necessary document updates. Additionally, you will help ensure compliance with IRS and Department of Labor deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding customer service and resolve client issues efficiently
Assist with the design, documentation, and compliance of retirement plans
Conduct annual testing (e.g., ADP/ACP, Top Heavy) and benefit calculations
Prepare and review Form 5500 filings, PBGC submissions, and actuarial reports
Coordinate loan processing and ensure clients meet regulatory deadlines
Ensure confidentiality and security of client data
Support internal teams in managing a large client portfolio
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a math-related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with ERISA-compliant retirement plans
Experience with Cash Balance Plans
Knowledge of non-discrimination testing for combination plans
Familiarity with actuarial certifications (e.g., QPA, QKA, CPC) is a plus
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and financial data analysis
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Experience in mentoring or leading a team is a plus
Attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
