Analyst - Convertible Arbitrage
Overview:
A leading multi-strategy hedge fund with over $10 billion in assets under management is seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join its Convertible Arbitrage team. This is a unique opportunity for a fundamental credit analyst to pivot into a fast-paced, market-driven strategy that blends deep credit work with trading and event-driven investing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fundamental credit analysis on convertible bond issuers, with a focus on identifying mispricings and arbitrage opportunities.
- Monitor corporate actions, capital structure events, and market catalysts that impact convertible securities.
- Collaborate with traders and portfolio managers to generate trade ideas and manage risk.
- Build and maintain financial models, including cash flow forecasts and capital structure analysis.
- Stay current on market trends, sector developments, and macroeconomic factors affecting credit and equity markets.
Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of experience in fundamental credit research, distressed debt, or high yield.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital structures, and credit documentation.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn convertible instruments and arbitrage strategies.
- Excellent analytical and modeling skills; proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Preferred:
- Experience covering sectors with active convertible issuance (e.g., tech, healthcare, consumer).
- Exposure to trading environments or event-driven strategies.
- CFA or progress toward designation is a plus.
