VP/Director - Performing Credit Research
A leading ~$50bn AUM credit investment platform is seeking a high‑caliber Performing Credit Research Analyst to join its investment team. The role is focused on fundamental, bottoms‑up credit analysis across leveraged loans and high yield bonds, supporting portfolio managers on idea generation, underwriting, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. This is a front‑office seat with direct exposure to investment decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct deep, fundamental credit research on performing issuers across leveraged loans and high yield bonds
- Build and maintain detailed three‑statement financial models, including cash flow, leverage, covenant, and downside stress analyses
- Analyze capital structures, credit documentation, covenants, and relative value across instruments and peers
- Develop clear investment theses and prepare written credit memos for portfolio managers and investment committees
- Monitor existing positions, track news flow, earnings, and covenant compliance, and proactively flag emerging risks
- Participate in management calls, lender meetings, and diligence sessions alongside PMs
- Work closely with trading, risk, and portfolio teams to support position sizing, entry/exit timing, and portfolio construction
- Contribute trade ideas in both primary and secondary markets
Required Qualifications
- 2-6+ years of experience in fundamental credit research, investment banking (lev fin / DCM), private credit, or buy‑side credit investing
- Strong understanding of leveraged finance products, capital structures, and credit documentation
- Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to analyze downside and stressed scenarios
- Sound judgment around risk/reward, catalysts, and asymmetric opportunities in performing credit
- Ability to communicate investment views clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats
- Highly detail‑oriented, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced investment environment
