Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting, Revenue

Company Overview: We are partnered with a public company in the Technology A&D industry that has over $xB in revenue. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant that has experience with revenue recognition under GAAP to join their Technical Accounting team.

Comp Band: $115k - $140k + Bonus & Equity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in review of prepared consolidated financial statements, footnote disclosures and documentation for SEC filings, including but not limited to 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements and the annual report.
  • Support external auditors on annual financial audits and quarterly financial reviews.
  • Review data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies (ASC 606) and procedures.
  • Gathers reference material concerning new and existing technical accounting literature to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly presentation to Audit Committee.
  • Oversee and assist in month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Perform review quarterly revenue related controls, including revenue sampling, testing of cost inputs and program fluctuation analysis.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives including automation and data analytics in creating efficiencies for our revenue processes and optimizing close timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
    • CPA Certification is not required, but will set you apart from other candidates.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in either public accounting at a national firm, or a publicly traded company within their technical accounting team. A combination of both public accounting and industry is preferred.
    • Individuals within Technical Accounting specialty groups (e.g., FAAS, CMAAS, etc.) will set you apart from other candidates.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and technical accounting skills (ASC 606 under GAAP); Understanding of SEC reporting and SOX compliance.
  • Attributes: Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset; ability to work independently and as part of a team; high level of integrity and professionalism.
