Job Title: Trade Operations Engineer
Work Model: In office, Chicago based. If not local, must relocate
Compensation: 150-300k TC (inclusive of base and bonus), dependent on experience level
Summary: A proprietary trading firm specializing in systematic and discretionary strategies is seeking a trade operations engineer to ensure reliable trading systems via monitoring and managing the trade life cycle. This includes real time support to traders and responding to system alerts and trade incidents.
Requirements:
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python for automation and data analysis; C++ experience a plus.
- Financial Markets: Solid understanding of futures and options trading, market microstructure, trade lifecycles, and order types is essential.
- Trading Systems: Hands on experience with trading platforms including DMA protocols and 3rd party platforms; familiarity with CME ecosystem preferred.
- Operating Systems: Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Trade Operations: Monitor and manage the trade lifecycle, including order execution, trade booking, and position management. This involves a real-time understanding of our proprietary trading strategies and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Broker & Exchange Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with counterparties while resolving issues utilizing third-party systems in real time.
- Risk & Compliance Monitoring: Track position and trading limits to ensure adherence to external regulations and internal controls.
- System Monitoring: Oversee the health and performance of trading systems, DMA connections, and broker APIs.
- Incident Response: Act as first responder for system alerts, identify root causes, escalate appropriately, and communicate status updates.
- Operational Support: Provide front-line support to traders for execution, reconciliations, and market data feeds.
- Process Improvement: Document and enhance operational procedures to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Collaboration: Partner with developers, researchers, and infrastructure teams to support deployment of new trading strategies, build monitoring tools and features, and resolve technical challenges
