Quant Researcher Equities Stat Arb
We are working with a leading multi-strategy hedge fund to hire a Quantitative Researcher into a high-performing systematic equities pod. The role will have a strong emphasis on alpha research and signal development within a nimble, performance-driven team.
This is an opportunity to work directly with a Senior Portfolio Manager, contributing to the development of proprietary strategies with immediate impact on live trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct alpha research to identify and develop predictive signals across equities
- Design and implement systematic trading strategies, primarily focused on mid- to short-term horizons
- Analyse large and diverse datasets to uncover inefficiencies using statistical and machine learning techniques
- Build, test, and refine models through rigorous backtesting and validation frameworks
- Work closely with the Portfolio Manager to translate research ideas into deployable strategies
- Continuously enhance and optimise existing signals and models to improve performance and scalability
- Partner with technology teams to ensure seamless implementation of research into production
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in quantitative research or systematic trading in equities
- Demonstrated experience in alpha generation / signal research
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, etc.)
- Strong programming skills in Python (C++ a plus), with experience working on large, noisy datasets
- Solid understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, and financial markets
- Experience with equities data / signals is strongly preferred
