We are currently working with a market maker and leader in sustainability solutions, empowering organisations to achieve their environmental and decarbonization goals through innovative trading, origination, and advisory services. Across the voluntary and compliance markets, the firm supports clients in navigating energy transformation, managing risk, and identifying profitable, future‑focused opportunities.
As an Originator (Power market) based in Japan, you will be instrumental in developing, structuring, and executing transactions across renewable energy and carbon products, with a strong focus on the Japanese market and broader Asia region. Your role is to identify opportunities, deliver tailored market insights, and drive revenue across both spot and structured transactions.
Responsibilities
- Drive the origination and execution of deals across a range of environmental and renewable‑focused products.
- Build and nurture strong commercial relationships with market participants across Japan.
- Share market perspectives and propose innovative commercial ideas that meet evolving client needs.
- Support pricing, structuring, and negotiation conversations alongside senior team members.
- Collaborate closely with corporate sales, supply, and trading teams to ensure smooth execution from origination through settlement.
- Identify new business avenues and contribute to growing our footprint in the Japanese market.
- Stay on top of regulatory and market shifts to anticipate opportunities and risks.
- Provide commercial insights that help shape internal strategy and trading decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in power or commodities trading, asset management, or other relevant commercial roles.
- Fluent in Japanese; strong English communication skills are highly preferred as you would be dealing mainly with Japanese counter parties and colleagues around the globe.
- Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills, with a proven ability to earn trust and influence stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, performance‑oriented, multicultural environment.
- Resilient, adaptable, and willing to learn through experimentation and feedback.
