The Charterer will be responsible for managing spot and time-charter shipping requirements for DPP cargoes (mainly) and CPP cargoes, optimizing freight strategies, securing competitive freight rates, and ensuring seamless execution of voyages. - Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, brokers, agents, and counterparties
- Provide real-time freight market intelligence and analysis to traders, including indications, trends, and route economics
- Evaluate shipping options, freight arbitrage opportunities, and voyage scenarios to optimize costs and exposure
- Monitor vessel performance, vetting, port restrictions, sanctions compliance, and operational risks
- Collaborate with trading, operations, and risk teams to ensure smooth execution of charter parties and voyage instructions
- Draft, review, and negotiate voyage and time-charter party terms, ensuring commercial and legal protections
- Maintain freight model inputs, shipping databases, and market dashboards
- Support strategic shipping projects, including COA evaluations, fleet strategy, and long-term freight planning
- Track global tanker markets, including fleet supply-demand, newbuilds, scrapping, congestion, and freight indices
Requirements
- At least 5-10 years of hands-on chartering experience in DPP shipping (within trading houses, oil majors, shipowners)
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of tanker markets (MR, LR, Aframax, Suezmax, VLCC) and common DPP and CPP trade routes
- Proven negotiation skills and experience in fixing spot and/or time-charter deals independently
- Solid understanding of charter party terms (Shellvoy, BPvoy, Asbatankvoy, etc.)
- Ability to analyze freight economics, demurrage exposure, and voyage profitability
- Strong network across shipowners and brokers
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, market-driven environments
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to identifying market opportunities
- Team-oriented, collaborative, and able to perform under pressure
