Operational Risk Associate
A leading global investment management firm is seeking an Operational Risk professional to join its second line risk function. This individual will play a key role in advancing enterprise operational risk and resilience initiatives across a diverse platform that includes public markets, private markets, and wealth management businesses.
The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and provides the opportunity to influence risk management practices across investment, operational, technology, and support functions. The successful candidate will help strengthen risk governance, enhance control environments, investigate operational incidents, and drive initiatives that support regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing enhancement and execution of the firm's Operational Risk Management Framework.
- Analyze operational risk events, perform root cause analysis, and identify opportunities to improve controls and processes.
- Facilitate Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across business and support functions.
- Monitor internal and external risk events to identify emerging trends and potential vulnerabilities.
- Lead reviews of significant incidents and develop recommendations to strengthen risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with business leaders to track remediation efforts and ensure timely issue resolution.
- Contribute to governance reporting, risk committee materials, and senior management presentations.
- Assess risks associated with new products, services, and third-party relationships.
- Support operational resilience and business continuity efforts across the organization.
- Maintain strong partnerships with Investment Teams, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and other key stakeholders globally.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Risk & Controls, or related experience within financial services.
- Asset management, wealth management, banking, or capital markets experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, RCSA programs, issue management, and risk governance.
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations surrounding operational risk and resilience.
- Experience using Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) platforms or operational risk management systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree required.
