Financial Accountant - VAT & Finance Operations (m/f/d)

On behalf of an internationally operating organization, we are currently looking for an experienced Financial Accountant with a focus in VAT & Finance Operations (m/f/d) to join the finance team at the Berlin location.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a global environment, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, and to take ownership of end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

  • Perform every-day stand-alone accounting
  • Book incoming and outgoing invoices
  • Reconcile payments and banks
  • Book credit card and out-of-pocket expenses, perform other needed reconciliations
  • Communicate with Project Management team, office management and rest of Finance Team to conduct routine accounting work
  • Prepare monthly and yearly closure
  • Provide data for management accounting and participate in management consolidation
  • Prepare draft annual accounts

VAT

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT declarations
  • Support finance team in proper filing and archiving of tax returns including annual tax returns
  • Maintain the VAT Matrix, communicate with Tax-related service providers
  • Maintain oversight and information on current tax position across jurisdictions

Admin Finance

  • Management of external financial audits
  • Maintain archive in relevant aspects
  • Maintain relationship with external accounting providers on a global scale.

Your Profile

  • Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in accounting
  • Business-fluent English is required; additional European languages are an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems (ERP exposure is a plus)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, combined with efficiency
  • Solid knowledge of VAT and intra-/extra‑community transactions
  • Experience in an international, medium to large-sized organisation preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adhere to internal policies
  • Professional and service-oriented approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
