Financial Accountant - VAT & Finance Operations (m/f/d)
On behalf of an internationally operating organization, we are currently looking for an experienced Financial Accountant with a focus in VAT & Finance Operations (m/f/d) to join the finance team at the Berlin location.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a global environment, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, and to take ownership of end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
- Perform every-day stand-alone accounting
- Book incoming and outgoing invoices
- Reconcile payments and banks
- Book credit card and out-of-pocket expenses, perform other needed reconciliations
- Communicate with Project Management team, office management and rest of Finance Team to conduct routine accounting work
- Prepare monthly and yearly closure
- Provide data for management accounting and participate in management consolidation
- Prepare draft annual accounts
VAT
- Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT declarations
- Support finance team in proper filing and archiving of tax returns including annual tax returns
- Maintain the VAT Matrix, communicate with Tax-related service providers
- Maintain oversight and information on current tax position across jurisdictions
Admin Finance
- Management of external financial audits
- Maintain archive in relevant aspects
- Maintain relationship with external accounting providers on a global scale.
Your Profile
- Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
- At least 3 years of professional experience in accounting
- Business-fluent English is required; additional European languages are an advantage
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems (ERP exposure is a plus)
- High attention to detail and accuracy, combined with efficiency
- Solid knowledge of VAT and intra-/extra‑community transactions
- Experience in an international, medium to large-sized organisation preferred
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adhere to internal policies
- Professional and service-oriented approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
