About the Role
An elite financial firm in Chicago is seeking a Director of Enterprise Monitoring to lead their enterprise-wide observability and monitoring strategy. This role is pivotal in driving technology transformation, ensuring system reliability, and delivering actionable insights across their complex financial ecosystem. You will lead a high-performing team, partner with senior technology and business leaders, and serve as the subject matter expert in modern monitoring and observability platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the enterprise monitoring strategy aligned with business and technology goals.
- Technology Transformation: Drive the adoption of modern observability tools and practices, including AIOps, OpenTelemetry, and cloud-native monitoring.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Platform Ownership: Oversee the implementation, integration, and optimization of monitoring platforms such as Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, ITRS, and OTEL.
- Collaboration: Partner with infrastructure, application, and cybersecurity teams to ensure end-to-end visibility and proactive incident management.
- Governance & Compliance: Establish monitoring standards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or application monitoring, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale technology transformation initiatives.
- Deep expertise in observability platforms such as Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, ITRS, OpenTelemetry, or similar.
- Strong understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid architectures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry or other highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with AIOps, SRE practices, and DevOps methodologies.
- Certifications in relevant technologies or frameworks (e.g., Splunk Certified Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
