Data Scientist
This is not a traditional business analytics or reporting role. The team sits close to the research process, evaluating new datasets, generating insights, building research-ready features, and helping determine whether data can contribute to investment decision-making. The work combines elements of data science, alternative data research, statistical analysis, and production data workflows.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets to identify actionable insights and patterns
- Evaluate new market, fundamental, and alternative datasets for potential research value
- Perform exploratory data analysis, statistical testing, and feature development
- Clean, normalize, and enrich datasets used by research teams
- Partner directly with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to understand data requirements and research objectives
- Develop automated data quality monitoring and validation processes
- Work with data vendors and internal stakeholders to assess and onboard new datasets
- Create research-ready datasets and derived features for downstream modeling and analysis
- Help improve data workflows through automation, modern tooling, and AI-assisted solutions
Qualifications
Junior Level
- 1-5 years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Quantitative Research, or a related field
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience working with large datasets
- Strong statistical and analytical background
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Senior Level
- 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Quantitative Analytics, or Research-focused data roles
- Deep expertise in Python, SQL, and statistical modeling
- Experience evaluating complex datasets and generating business or research insights
- Ability to work independently with researchers and stakeholders across the organization
- Strong understanding of experimental design, data quality, and feature engineering
