Boutique Hedge Fund Capital Raiser

Overview

A boutique investment management firm is seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Investor Relations & Business Development to lead and build its capital raising and investor engagement function.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role suited to someone who thrives in a lean, founder‑led environment and is excited by the opportunity to shape a function from the ground up. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to the investment team while also executing day‑to‑day IR and fundraising activities.

The firm operates with a small, highly collaborative team and is at an exciting stage of its growth, offering significant responsibility, visibility, and scope to influence outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Investor Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective investors
  • Manage all ongoing investor communications, including:
    • Quarterly reporting
    • Investor letters and updates
    • Ad‑hoc requests and due diligence queries
  • Oversee the preparation and refinement of marketing and IR materials (pitch decks, DDQs, factsheets, case studies)
  • Coordinate investor meetings, roadshows, and on‑site visits
  • Ensure best‑in‑class investor experience with a high‑touch, relationship‑driven approach

Business Development & Capital Raising

  • Lead fundraising efforts across current and future investment vehicles
  • Develop and execute a clear capital raising strategy in partnership with the founding team
  • Originate and manage relationships with:
    • Institutional investors
    • Family offices
    • Wealth managers and other strategic allocators
  • Maintain and evolve the investor CRM and pipeline
  • Represent the firm at relevant industry events and conferences

Strategic & Operational Contribution

  • Act as a trusted commercial and strategic sounding board to the partners
  • Help shape the firm's long‑term growth and positioning
  • Contribute across functions as needed, reflecting the boutique nature of the platform
  • Build and scale the IR/BD function over time, with potential to hire as the business grows

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in Investor Relations, Business Development, or Capital Raising within hedge funds
  • Strong understanding of institutional investors and allocator decision‑making
  • Track record of supporting or leading fundraising processes
  • Experience working closely with senior investment professionals

Personal Attributes

  • Highly entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in ambiguity
  • Willing and able to wear multiple hats
  • Self‑starter with strong ownership mentality
  • Polished, credible communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail‑oriented while able to think strategically
  • Enjoys working in a small, high‑performance, boutique environment

Why This Role?

  • Opportunity to own and build the IR/BD function rather than inherit a mature platform
  • Direct exposure to founders and key decision‑makers
  • Broad, varied role with real influence on the firm's trajectory
  • Platform with strong growth ambitions and long‑term potential
  • Ideal for someone who prefers impact and autonomy over hierarchy and scale
