About the Job

Join our client, a dynamic, New York-based, fully integrated private real estate investment management and ownership firm, as an experienced Asset Manager. With over $3.0 billion in assets under management, the REPE fund is a recognized leader in on- and off-campus student housing, multifamily apartment communities, and mixed-use retail/residential developments, with deep roots across numerous real estate sectors.

As a key member of the asset management team, you will collaborate directly with the founding principals, taking ownership of a portfolio of 12-15 assets. Your focus will be on driving asset performance and executing business plans to enhance portfolio value. This includes defining operational strategies, setting performance targets, and proactively navigating evolving economic and market landscapes.


Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee a portfolio of 12-15 student housing and/or multifamily assets across the U.S.
  • Manage all financial, operational, and renovation aspects of the portfolio.
  • Prepare financial analyses to support budget recommendations and ongoing revenue/expense tracking.
  • Develop annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with property management teams.
  • Monitor leasing activities, adjust rental rates, and adapt business plans in real-time to optimize performance.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with sponsors, partners, stakeholders, and property management teams.
  • Complete quarterly partner/investor reporting and distributions.
  • Analyze monthly financial reports and performance metrics; provide variance analyses with actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct market research and property analysis, including trend and comp reports based on site tours and data.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with onsite and corporate management personnel.
  • Support acquisition and disposition processes.
  • Update and monitor financial models for portfolio assets.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate asset management and/or finance, with a strong understanding of student housing and/or multifamily housing.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Solid foundation in real estate principles, finance, and accounting.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5 days per month.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
