Accounting Supervisor
A fast‑growing, multi‑segment organization is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to lead core accounting operations and ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting. As the Accounting Supervisor, you'll oversee daily and monthly accounting activities, guide a collaborative accounting team, and support leadership with critical financial reporting. You will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity across multiple business segments and strengthening internal controls.
What You'll Do
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including prepaid entries, agent balances, and fee entries.
- Supervise weekly and monthly workflows such as bank reconciliations, check runs, and AP close.
- Manage the Accounts Payable function and ensure timely, accurate processing.
- Lead monthly close for corporate entities and ensure completeness of financial records.
- Execute GAAP compliance tasks including GAAP checklists, Cheatsheet assignments, and annual GAAP reporting.
- Prepare critical internal financial reports: Monthly CFO Package, Insurance Package, and PAC Analysis.
- Coordinate assigned audit workpapers and respond to auditor requests.
- Support Supplementary Statutory Filings and assist with SEC filings (10‑K, 10‑Q).
- Review financial statements for variances and provide clear, thoughtful explanations.
- Oversee payroll‑related entries, wire/EFT processing, intangible asset entries, and intercompany debt.
- Provide accounting guidance to management and ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls.
- Contribute to special projects such as XBRL, SEC reporting, and other ad hoc assignments.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 4+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years at the senior accountant level.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and foundational accounting procedures.
- CPA or CPA‑eligible candidates strongly preferred.
- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics and Management Reporter is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving capabilities, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines.
- Team‑oriented, proactive, and able to communicate effectively across departments.
