Staff Accountant
Selby Jennings is exclusively parntered with a private energy investment & asset management firm that specializes in acquiring and optimizing long-life, low-decline oil & gas assets. The Controller & Chief Compliance Officer is looking to bring on a Staff Accountant as the firm continues to experience exciting growth. This firm is known for executing highly sophisticated transaction and offers a highly autonomous environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries for monthly close activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, revenue, and accruals.
- Assist with preparation of internal financial statements and variance analysis.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries.
- Collaborate with operations and land teams to ensure accurate revenue and expense allocations.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-5 years of accounting experience; oil & gas industry experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or industry-specific platforms like WolfePak or Enertia) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
