Senior Hardware Engineer
  • A leading trading firm is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join its high-performance engineering team in Austin.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and bring-up of custom high-performance hardware, with a focus on printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Own schematic capture, layout, and simulation using tools like SPICE, Ansys SiWave, and HFSS
  • Develop initial firmware and bring-up code in C, Python, or VHDL
  • Analyze Eye Diagrams and BERT results, aligning lab measurements with simulation data
  • Define engineering requirements and create detailed test plans
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues throughout the development lifecycle
  • Explore innovative approaches to optimize system performance across latency, scalability, and thermal efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team including traders, researchers, and engineers across software, mechanical, and infrastructure domains
  • Drive designs from concept through production, ensuring manufacturability and performance
  • Manage external vendor relationships and component sourcing

Who You Are

  • Hold a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred)
  • Bring 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in hardware design and development
  • Highly proficient in ECAD tools such as Altium, Mentor Graphics, or Cadence
  • Deep understanding of signal and power integrity best practices
  • Experienced in full product lifecycle-from initial concept to final release
  • Skilled in designing and validating high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe Gen3-6, USB3/4, 10/25G Ethernet)
  • Comfortable working with low-speed protocols in both hardware and software (I2C, SPI, JTAG, USB)
  • Capable of validating high-speed designs using TDRs and oscilloscopes
  • Able to read and write Python for hardware interaction and automation

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with Ethernet standards (IEEE802.3)
  • Background in data center or consumer electronics hardware design
  • Experience with C/C++ software development
  • RTL design experience using VHDL or Verilog
  • Exposure to post-silicon bring-up and debugging workflows
